Pezeshkian Mocks Netanyahu Over Promise to Help Iranians with Water
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian mocked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today in a post on X, criticizing the notion that Israel would assist Iran in resolving its water crisis as Iranians take to the streets demanding the resignation of their government.
"The regime that has deprived the people of Gaza of water and food wants to deliver water to the people of Iran. What an illusion," Pezeshkian wrote.
Netanyahu released a video message yesterday directed at the Iranian people, quoting Pezeshkian's recent remarks acknowledging deep national issues, including water scarcity. "We have issues with water, electricity, money, and inflation; where do we not have problems? There will be no water in the reservoirs in September or October," Netanyahu quoted.
He accused the Iranian leadership of imposing dictatorship and poverty on its citizens, directing hundreds of billions of dollars to Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthis instead of addressing internal needs. "You do not deserve leaders who flee the country while you alone suffer in difficult times of war," he said.
Netanyahu urged Iranians to take to the streets and protest against the dictatorship, encouraging them to demand justice. "You are not alone. Israel is with you. The entire world is with you."
