Iran to Counter Threats to Armenia With or Without Russia: Iranian Foreign Ministry
Iran will hinder U.S. plans in the Caucasus with or without Russia, stated Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor on international affairs to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“The project for establishing a corridor supported by the U.S. in the South Caucasus is 'treacherous' and aimed at changing and dividing the borders of Armenia. This corridor will not serve as an economic route; instead, it will become 'the graveyard of Trump’s mercenaries,' and Iran will stop it with or without Russia,” Velayati said.
The people of Armenia oppose the division of their country, and the Prime Minister of Armenia has also expressed his disagreement with this project during his visit to Iran. The implementation of this corridor threatens the security of the South Caucasus, and Russia is strategically opposed to it,” Velayati added.
