Germany Will Support Yerevan and Baku on the Path to Sustainable Peace: Foreign Ministry
Germany's Foreign Minister, Johan Wadephul, welcomed the signing of a joint statement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He stated that Berlin is ready to support Yerevan and Baku on their path to sustainable peace.
"Armenia and Azerbaijan are opening a new chapter in their history. The fact that both sides have pre-signed the Peace Agreement in Washington under the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump is a source of hope for many people in Armenia and Azerbaijan, who have a long history of conflict, displacement, and suffering behind them. This day demonstrates the willingness of both governments to solve complex issues through negotiation and to make difficult compromises," the diplomat noted.
He emphasized that it is now crucial for the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to be signed and ratified by both governments as soon as possible.
