Trump Announces 30% Tariff on Goods from EU
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that starting August 1, the United States will impose a 30% tariff on goods imported from the European Union, while previously established sectoral tariffs will remain in effect.
Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform, stating, “Starting August 1, 2025, we will charge a tariff of 30% on goods sent to the U.S. from the EU, separate from all sectoral tariffs.”
The post was directed at European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. It also mentioned that if the EU wishes to raise its tariffs on American goods, the U.S. will increase its 30% tariff accordingly.
