Israeli President Issues Statement
Israeli President Isaac Herzog has stated that military action against Iran's nuclear program was the only right decision, but noted that Israel does not seek to topple the government in Iran.
"We are firmly aware that Iran has reached that threshold and was very close. They had enriched uranium to 60%, and there was no other reason for that than to develop weapons. We are eliminating this threat preemptively, before it detonates," said the Israeli President.
At the same time, Herzog emphasized that Israel does not wish to carry out a change of power in Iran. "We do not intend to harm the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, or to pursue regime change. However, that could be a side effect with serious historical consequences that would be beneficial for the Iranian people," added Herzog.
