Gegham Nazaryan Addresses Alen Simonian's Controversial Statement
This is a very sensitive issue, and I urge everyone, including all leaders of Armenia, to be very cautious when making such statements.
In an interview with NEWS.am, Member of Parliament Gegham Nazaryan commented on the statement made by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, suggesting that Azerbaijanis could come to live in Armenia just as Armenians do in Georgia.
“Because everyone can live in a country, but when we talk about a country whose leaders we constantly hear saying that some people have the right to return to their historical homeland, this takes us down a very dangerous path. Perhaps, in X years, if Armenia and Azerbaijan overcome all the childhood diseases characteristic of a state and reach a certain level, we can start thinking about it. For instance, if an Azerbaijani wants to live in Armenia, how are we going to handle that? But it seems to me that this topic is at least two generations away,” he stated.
