China and the USA Engage in Talks for the First Time After Economic Tensions
Negotiations aimed at resolving trade issues between representatives of China and the USA have commenced in Geneva. This was reported by the Chinese state news agency Xinhua.
Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen today early in the morning. This is the first meeting between the two superpowers following weeks of heightened tensions, which resulted in tariffs on imports between the world’s two largest economies rising by over 100%.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that the USA and China could reach a 'fair' deal regarding trade between the countries.
