It Was a Delayed Recognition of the Truth: Pelosi on the Armenian Genocide
A member of the U.S. House of Representatives and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a message in honor of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide victims’ remembrance. In her message posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account, she stated, "On the day of remembrance for the victims of the Armenian Genocide, we honor the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who were killed during this horrific genocide 110 years ago.”
She added that during her visit to Armenia in 2022, she was honored to visit the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to pay tribute to the victims of this atrocity.
Pelosi emphasized the importance of continuing to shed light on this dark chapter of history. "In 2019, the Democratic caucus (i.e., the U.S. House of Representatives) officially recognized the Armenian Genocide, and that was a recognition of truth—a historical acknowledgment that was long overdue and a lasting commitment to human rights,” Pelosi said.
