European Troops Will Not be Deployed to Ukraine: Macron
European troops will not be deployed to Ukraine in the near future. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with Le Figaro.
“European soldiers will not appear on Ukrainian territory in the coming weeks. We want peace, but we do not want peace at any cost and without guarantees,” said the French president, emphasizing that it is essential to ensure a reliable ceasefire and conduct multi-week negotiations before sending military personnel.
Macron also noted that EU countries need to increase defense spending to between 3% and 3.5% of GDP. He reminded that Paris is currently spending about 2% of its GDP for these purposes. According to him, “the total investments in this sector may require at least 200 billion euros in the first phase.”
