Zelensky Responds to Trump's Call
Ukraine desires peace but believes that several conditions must be met for it to happen. This was stated by Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Fox News, commenting on the call made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
"We want peace; that is why I am in the USA. This is why I came to thank President Trump for the invitation. The deal regarding minerals is a step towards peace," Zelensky said.
He also added that in order to achieve peace, Ukraine must be "in a stronger position." He stated, "This means we need to have a powerful army, we need support from our partners, and we need security guarantees." Earlier, Trump had mentioned that for negotiations to resume, Zelensky must state that "he wants peace." The interviewer directly asked Zelensky whether he is ready to say these words.
