Will Ukraine Provide Rare Metals to the US?
The US and Ukraine are currently in the final stages of negotiations regarding a natural resources agreement, as reported by The New York Times.
The document stipulates that Washington will receive a portion of Ukraine's revenue from natural resources. “The version of the agreement discussed on February 24 included more favorable terms for Ukraine than previous ones but did not contain the security guarantees requested by Kyiv,” the newspaper noted.
The requirement for the transfer of $500 billion in revenue generated from the extraction of natural resources, including oil, gas, and minerals, has been removed from the agreement. Meanwhile, sources indicate that negotiations are ongoing, and the terms of the deal may change.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that in exchange for financial and military assistance provided to Ukraine, Washington expects guarantees for the supply of rare metals from Kyiv.
