Criminal Proceedings Initiated Against Current Ministers - Galyan
The Minister of Justice, Srbuhi Galyan, in response to an address by the leader of the 'Honorary' faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, regarding the arrests of political figures in criminal cases, stated: 'The increasing number of arrests as a measure of restraint is concerning for the ministry, and this issue is under our attention.'
Galyan noted that many of the individuals pointed out by Mamijanyan are being prosecuted for abuses of official authority committed during their tenure. 'It is hard to imagine that these prosecutions could be of a political nature. It is not only former officials who are facing criminal charges in Armenia; under this government's administration, criminal proceedings have been initiated against current ministers and deputy ministers.'
According to Galyan, 'The issue is not about targeting individuals but about specific phenomena,' she added.
