EU Approves New Sanctions Package Against Russia
The foreign affairs ministers of the EU have approved the 16th sanctions package against Russia, coinciding with the third anniversary of the military operations in Ukraine. This has been reported by Reuters.
The new package of restrictions includes a ban on the import of primary aluminum, among other measures. According to media reports, the sanctions will target 13 banks and 73 ships that the EU considers part of Russia's shadow sector.
In total, 35 Russian companies and 48 individuals will be sanctioned, as identified by Brussels for their involvement in the military operations in Ukraine. Additionally, EU countries will prohibit the import of certain chemical substances and servicing for oil and gas processing plants.
