Peskov Details the Atmosphere of the Putin-Trump Phone Conversation
The recent conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump was friendly and constructive, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.
In an interview with Pavel Zarubin, Peskov described the dialogue between the two leaders as “constructive, working, and friendly.” He clarified that the conversation was amicable on both sides.
“Usually, the president conducts phone conversations alone, and at that moment, no one accompanies him. That's how it usually is. If necessary, of course, the head of state invites those assistants he considers necessary to discuss certain matters,” Peskov stated.
The phone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States took place on February 12. Then, on February 15, the foreign ministers of Russia and the U.S., Sergey Lavrov and Marco Rubio, agreed on regular contacts during a phone conversation to prepare for a meeting between Putin and Trump.
