USS Harry S. Truman Aircraft Carrier Collides with Commercial Vessel
The U.S. Navy's Sixth Fleet has reported that the USS Harry S. Truman collided with the commercial ship Beshiktash-M in the Mediterranean Sea. The collision occurred on February 12 at approximately 23:46 local time near Port Said, Egypt.
The aircraft carrier, including its propulsion systems, was not damaged, the Navy clarified. An investigation has been initiated.
According to MarineTraffic, the Beshiktash M freighter is flying the Panamanian flag. The vessel had departed from Port Said and was en route to the port of Constanța, Romania.
The USS Harry S. Truman has been heavily involved in operations in the Middle East over the past year, particularly in the Red Sea. It arrived in the region in December 2024 amid attacks on commercial vessels by Houthi militants. During this period, the aircraft carrier reportedly faced multiple attacks from the Houthis.
