South Korean President Lifts State of Emergency
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has lifted the state of emergency that was declared the previous day. The order, which was officially revoked at 4:30 AM local time, lasted for about six hours.
"The parliament demanded the cancellation of the state of emergency, so I have ordered the withdrawal of the military forces deployed for that purpose," Yoon said in his address.
At the same time, he called on the parliament to "immediately cease reckless actions that paralyze the functionality of the state, such as double impeachment, legislative manipulations, and budget exploitation."
