VIDEO: Tense Situation in Tbilisi, Several Detained
Police in Tbilisi have arrested several protesters who attempted to block the road near the central electoral commission building. The protest began Saturday morning outside the electoral commission's headquarters as it was receiving the final report on the parliamentary elections.
Shortly after the report was accepted, protesters moved towards Agmashenebeli Avenue, where they attempted to obstruct traffic. Security forces dispersed the demonstrators, restored traffic flow, and detained several individuals.
It is noteworthy that the chairman of Georgia's Central Electoral Commission signed the final report for the parliamentary elections held on October 26. According to the final results, the ruling party, 'Georgian Dream', won 53.93% of the vote and secured a parliamentary majority with 89 mandates. Additionally, four opposition parties have entered parliament: 'Coalition for Changes', 'United National Movement', 'Strong Georgia', and 'For Georgia'.
