In This Case, the Existence of the Police Is Simply Meaningless: Pashinyan
Law enforcement agencies are those structures that should have the ability to use force, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during today’s government session.
“Naturally, if the police do not have the right to use force de jure and de facto, then the existence of the police is simply meaningless; the police exist to use force in cases defined by law,” he said.
Pashinyan recalled his statements during the July 2016 events, saying, “The police are the backbone of the state and you cannot target the police.”
“I do not rule out that the police used force against me personally; after becoming Prime Minister, I did not inquire about it, and I assume that many people are still serving today, which is logical,” he added.
