Former Vice Mayor Who Called Parents of Fallen Soldiers 'Dirty' Appointed as Community Leader
Serob Sargsyan, a member of the Civil Contract party, has been appointed as the head of the Ajapnyak administrative district. This was confirmed to Hraparak by Hayk Kostanyan, the spokesperson for the Yerevan City Hall.
Recently, the media reported that Serob Sargsyan, a former deputy mayor of Ajapnyak, would replace Kamsar Babinyan. In 2022, while serving as deputy mayor, he referred to the parents of fallen soldiers as 'dirty' during a protest.
To prove his innocence, he had filed a lawsuit against journalist Lia Sargsyan for her reports, claiming he did not make such a statement. However, parents present in court testified that he indeed made the remarks, and the court dismissed his case.
Several candidates were discussed for the new position of community leader, but the decision ultimately settled on Serob Sargsyan.
