Borrell Responds to Aliyev's Statements
The accusations made by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, towards the EU, France, and the Netherlands are extremely regretful. This was stated by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, on X.
"These unacceptable statements could undermine the important goals of the climate change conference and the credibility of Azerbaijan's presidency at COP29. We support France and the Netherlands. The EU and its member states are the largest contributors to global climate financing, assisting partners around the world in combating climate change. We also condemn the attacks by Azerbaijani authorities on media outlets and NGOs that are facing a human rights crisis in the country," he wrote.
It should be noted that President Ilham Aliyev accused France of harming ecosystems in transboundary areas and human rights violations within the framework of COP29.
