What Will Trump Do on the First Day of His New Presidential Term?
Donald Trump, who won the U.S. presidential elections, will undertake several measures on his first day at the White House aimed at strengthening immigration legislation and halting key projects of migrant acceptance initiated by President Joe Biden. This was reported by Reuters, citing three sources familiar with the situation.
“Federal immigration officers will be granted more freedom to arrest individuals without convictions, move troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, and resume construction of the border wall,” the article states.
It is also expected that Trump will terminate humanitarian programs that were in place during Biden's presidency, which allowed hundreds of thousands of migrants to enter the U.S. legally in recent years. Reuters reports that Trump intends to send National Guard troops to the border and declare a state of emergency related to illegal migration in order to secure funding for wall construction.
According to two sources, priority may be given to the section of Arizona where the Democratic governor opposes anti-migration measures.
Donald Trump, who previously held the U.S. presidency after the 2016 elections, won the presidential elections held on November 5. He is the first politician since the 19th century to successfully return to the White House after a four-year break.
Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris has spoken before supporters, announcing her acceptance of defeat, while current President Joe Biden has congratulated Trump after speaking with him. The Electoral College is scheduled to vote for the candidates on December 17, according to the will of the voters, and on January 6, the new Congress will confirm the voting results. The inauguration ceremony will take place on January 20.
