Will North Korea Start a War? South Korea Provides Insights
The authorities of the Republic of Korea suspect that North Korea may start a war, but that would be suicidal for Pyongyang. This was stated by Shin Won-sik, head of the National Security Office in the office of the President of the Republic of Korea, as reported by TASS.
"I believe that North Korea will not start a war unless it has decided to commit suicide," said the politician in an interview with KBS. He added, "Whether North Korea starts a war or not depends not on their intentions, but on our will and readiness. It is important to put in effort so that the North cannot carry out such actions."
According to him, South Korea should maintain full preparedness to respond to provocations from Pyongyang.
