If Passed, the Bill Will Have Catastrophic Consequences: Borrell
The initiative by Israeli authorities to ban the operations of the UN agency responsible for assisting Palestinian refugees will have catastrophic consequences. This was stated by Josep Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy.
“The EU expresses serious concern regarding the proposed law about the UN Security Council, which is currently under discussion in the Israeli parliament. The EU supports the call of the UN Secretary-General on this issue and shares concerns that if this bill is passed, it will have catastrophic consequences and will prevent UN agencies from continuing to provide services, ensuring the protection of Palestinian refugees in the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip,” Borrell's written statement reads.
