These Allegations Are Unfounded: EU Observer Mission Statement
The European Union observer mission in Armenia considers the recent accusations from the Azerbaijani side regarding "bias" and "preparation for provocations" to be unfounded.
"We conduct regular patrols in the area, adhering to our operational procedures. No extraordinary incidents have been recorded during the patrols," said Anna Palmen, spokesperson for the mission, in an interview with Azatutyun.
Yesterday, the media outlet "Kaliber," associated with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, published footage of observers conducting patrolling activities with telescopes, claiming that they are "monitoring Azerbaijani territory using special equipment." Furthermore, the outlet questioned the impartiality of the observers and asserted that "it seems a provocation is being prepared."
The EU's unarmed civilian mission emphasizes: "Impartiality is our fundamental principle and it is clearly enshrined in our mandate."
