What Should I Do, There’s a Verdict – I’ll Serve My Time and Come Back: Arush Arushanyan
On September 10, the Syunik region’s Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Vartsenik Melkonyan, sentenced the mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan, to 1 year, 8 months, and 3 days of imprisonment. One of Arush Arushanyan's penalties includes a 5-year restriction from holding community office.
Today, information was published in the media indicating that competition for the position of Goris mayor has already begun, with the main contender being the faction member of the ruling Civil Contract party, Armen Khachatryan.
ArmLur.am spoke with Arush Arushanyan regarding this matter.
- Mr. Arushanyan, it appears that after the court's verdict comes into effect, your powers will cease and you won’t be able to hold that office for 5 years. What do you intend to do?
- The court has made a decision; what should I do – I’ll serve my time and come back.
