Video: Expired and Unlabeled Food Products Found in Yerevan Supermarkets
Expired and unlabeled food products have been discovered in supermarkets across Yerevan. This information was reported by the press service of the Yerevan Municipality.
The Public Order Protection Service of the Yerevan Municipality conducted inspections in retail stores. The staff found products with two labels affixed, which constitutes a violation of regulations. The expiration dates of dairy products, confectionery, and both food and non-food items were checked.
It is also considered a violation when, for example, the cutoff date for meat packages is not indicated on the packaging. A product is deemed expired even if the production date is not visible or is erased. Expired food items are subject to recall and destruction.
Vahktang Barseghyan, Deputy Head of the Public Order Protection Service of the Yerevan Municipality, emphasized that although the volume of items in supermarkets is large, a thorough examination must be conducted, and records should be kept.
Business operators face fines ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 drams for violations. Additionally, the results of the inspections are reported to the Food Safety Inspection Body.
