Iran Reiterates Its Position
Negotiations aimed at establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will not prevent Iran from asserting its rights and punishing Israel for the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniya, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani has stated.
“This issue (negotiations regarding a ceasefire in Gaza - ed.) has no connection to Iran's legitimate right to respond to the aggressor,” Kanani's words were quoted by Fars news agency.
“Tehran supports collective efforts for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, while at the same time, Iran emphasizes its undeniable right to protect its own interests and respond to the aggressor,” added the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
