VIDEO: Badasyan Discusses Death of Brazilian Citizen
The head of the State Revenue Committee, Rustam Badasyan, addressed reporters about the incident involving a Brazilian citizen at the Zvartnots International Airport. He stated that an investigation is underway, and those who acted unprofessionally, if identified, will be held accountable.
"Just imagine, a customs officer forces a citizen to consume drugs. Picture that situation; it’s a tragic incident, and humor should not be made about this topic. If anyone has acted unprofessionally, they should be held responsible. However, the incident occurred as follows: the individual likely attempted to smuggle drugs, and our risk management system targeted them for inspection. During the inspection, bottles were found, and at that moment, the citizen decided they could prove their innocence by consuming the substance, which is, of course, not a normal procedure. Again, I emphasize, if someone was unprofessional, they should face consequences. The cameras recorded everything," he noted.
It is important to recall that a mysterious and tragic incident occurred in Yerevan on August 8. Around 11:55 PM, the Astghik Medical Center informed the operational management center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that an emergency medical team had transported a deceased citizen from Zvartnots Airport.
