Law Enforcement Searches Properties of Former Arabkir Community Leader's Father and Father-in-law
Law enforcement agencies have conducted searches at the homes of Aram Azatyan, the former community leader of Arabkir, and his family members. This was reported by ArmLur.am.
“$9,900 was taken from the father-in-law's house. Family members explained that they are engaged in trade, and that the money belongs to their household. Law enforcement also searched the community administration and seized several computers from there,” the website notes.
Earlier, it was reported that the preventive measure for Aram Azatyan, the head of the Arabkir administrative district, was changed from house arrest to detention.
It is recalled that the Investigative Committee of Armenia conducted investigative actions in the Arabkir administrative district on July 3, and individuals were arrested. According to the Investigative Committee, necessary and urgent investigative and procedural actions are being carried out within the framework of a criminal case being examined by the Main Department for the Investigation of Crimes against State and Constitutional Order and Public Safety.
On July 4, it became known that charges had been brought against eight individuals in connection with the Arabkir community case, including three officials. A preventive measure of detention was applied to four of the accused, including two officials, while another official was placed under house arrest with bail set at 30 million drams. Three other individuals were prohibited from leaving the country as a preventive measure.
The criminal proceedings have been initiated and are being investigated for abuse of power or service authority by a public official, complicity, receiving bribes, giving bribes, and mediating bribes.
