Emergency of Federal Scale Declared in Kursk Region
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has announced that an emergency of federal scale has been established in the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have been advancing for four consecutive days.
"A federal-level response has been established in the region. This decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Government Commission for the Prevention and Response to Emergency Situations and Fire Safety," the Ministry's statement said.
Alexey Smirnov, the acting head of the Kursk region, declared the emergency on August 7 to address the consequences of the attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in border areas.
