According to the agency, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic are experiencing recruitment challenges. In particular, Prague has been unable for several years to meet its army recruitment targets and is struggling to maintain troop levels.

The agency reports that the Romanian government has begun active conscription following recent data from the Ministry of Defense, which indicated a shortfall of 43 percent among officers and 23 percent among enlisted personnel.
