Video: Footage from the Demarcated and Walled Section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Border
Journalist Tatul Hakobyan has released footage from the demarcated and walled section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border near the village of Kiran. Recall that on April 19, the commissions for the demarcation of the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to begin the demarcation from the Tavush region.
The Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia announced that as a result of this process, Azerbaijan will gain control over 2.5 villages, while the Republic of Armenia will benefit from a reduction in security risks. After the demarcation, armed forces in four villages will withdraw and make way for border guard troops.
On May 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia announced that the delimitation commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan have reached new agreements. The Office of the Prime Minister clarified that according to these agreements, there will be issues regarding the relocation of a road and property in Kiran, and representatives of the government will inventory potential problems to compensate citizens for incurred damages.
On May 24, the National Security Service of Armenia announced that the border guard troops officially assume responsibility for the 1.9 km section of the Berkaber settlement and the 4.9 km sections of the Voskепar and Baghanis settlements in Tavush region.
