Hovik Abrahamyan's Son, Argam Abrahamyan, Charged
The son of former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, Argam Abrahamyan, a former MP and the mayor of Artashat, has been charged with abusing his official powers during his tenure as mayor and illegally selling a plot of land owned by the Artashat community for 6 million drams.
According to reports from "Lurer," Argam Abrahamyan, who held the mayor's position from 2015 to 2017, does not accept the charges but has not contested them.
His defense attorney, Emin Khachatryan, stated that there is no evidence to substantiate the allegations against the former mayor of Artashat. However, considering that the investigation into criminal proceedings can take years, Argam Abrahamyan has chosen not to contest the charges in order to potentially halt the prosecution on the grounds of the statute of limitations.
Also charged in this case is Gagik Muradyan, another former mayor of Artashat who served for 14 years. He is alleged to have sold community property to acquaintances at significantly below market prices.
