London Will Continue to Support Kyiv: New UK Prime Minister's Promise to Zelensky
The new head of the UK government, Keir Starmer, has assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that London will continue to support Kyiv. This statement was made following a phone conversation between the leaders, as reported by the Prime Minister's office.
“The Prime Minister began the conversation by emphasizing how important it is for him to reaffirm the United Kingdom's unwavering commitment to Ukraine on his first day in office,” the document states.
He added that the change from a Conservative government to a Labour cabinet “will have no effect on the UK's support.” He also stressed that London “will continue to provide defensive assistance to Ukraine.”
Starmer expressed hope for a quick meeting with Zelensky and agreed to remain in close contact with him.
