Moscow Comments on the Change of Armenia's Ambassador in Russia
The question regarding the change of the ambassador in Moscow falls under Armenia's jurisdiction, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin to journalists.
“It is the prerogative of the state to determine the candidacy of an ambassador in a specific country; in this case, we are discussing the intention of Armenia's leadership to replace the ambassador in the Russian Federation,” he noted.
“Procedures have been established for resolving such issues, and they will be implemented,” Galuzin added.
He also mentioned that Russia is satisfied with the work of Armenia’s ambassador in Moscow, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, who has made significant contributions to the development of bilateral relations.
“I am grateful to Vagharshak Varnazovich for his great contribution to strengthening the entire complex of Russian-Armenian relations,” Galuzin remarked.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonian, had stated that a new ambassador to Russia would be appointed in the near future.
According to circulating media reports, the new ambassador of Armenia in the Russian Federation is expected to be Gurgen Arsenyan, a member of the ruling “Civil Contract” faction.
