8 Hectares of Cadastral Land Handed Over to Azerbaijan from Kirants
8 hectares of cadastral land have been handed over to Azerbaijan from Kirants. This is reported by Tavush journalist Voskanyan Sarkisyan.
He elaborates: “On June 30, the Azerbaijani armed forces planted a large flag near the village of Kirants, which is also visible from the neighboring village of Ajarkut. This has a psychologically negative effect on the residents of Kirants and Ajarkut.”
Kamog Shahinyan, the administrative head of Kirants, confirmed that a large Azerbaijani flag has been installed near the village cemetery close to an area known as “Khachi yal.” The administrative leader also mentioned that the Armenian flag has been placed in that section as well.
I asked K. Shahinyan about the 8 hectares of agricultural land on the right bank of the Karahan River, owned by residents of Kirants who possess property certificates from the cadastre committee, yet these lands have been handed over to Azerbaijan. K. Shahinyan confirmed that these 8 hectares belonged to more than ten residents of Kirants holding cadastral certificates.
I inquired about the government's financial compensation for the landowners. The administrative head stated that he is not in charge of that issue, which is being handled by the Tavush Regional Administration and the Ijevan community administration.
Residents of Kirants have informed the journalist that the state compensation for these 8 hectares will be $3 per square meter. K. Shahinyan added that construction is currently underway for a new section of the interstate road stretching through Ajarkut village, which is expected to be operational by July 24.”
