Russia Must Start Producing Short- and Medium-Range Missiles, Says Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin held an operational consultation today with permanent members of the country's Security Council. The meeting addressed Russia's next steps regarding the unilateral moratorium on the deployment of short- and medium-range missiles (SMMR).

“Russia clearly needs to begin producing short- and medium-range missiles in response to the deployment of such weapons by the United States outside its borders,” said Putin. He noted that the US is not only producing these missiles but is also delivering them to Europe.

The President of the Russian Federation added that it is unclear whether the US has withdrawn medium and short-range missiles from the Philippines, where they were previously relocated for exercises.
