UK Officials Claim Ukraine Will Have to Accept Russia's Terms
Recent military gains by Russian armed forces may compel Ukraine to agree to all of Russia's terms for ending the armed conflict. This was stated by columnist Aris Rusinos in an article for UnHerd.
"In the summer, Russia could achieve victory in the battlefield, forcing Kyiv to accept terms that are currently rejected by Ukraine," he remarked.
Rusinos noted that several Western officials consider this outcome likely, although they do not publicly discuss it. The expert also recalled that recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed new conditions for conflict resolution, which have become stricter than those at the beginning of the conflict.
Prior to this, Kyiv political expert Konstantin Bondarenko suggested that Ukrainian authorities might attempt to escalate the conflict with Russia to prepare society for potential peace negotiations.
On June 20, Putin announced that the Russian side is ready to negotiate with Ukraine based on the frameworks of Istanbul and Minsk.
