The Investigative Committee Responds to GG Company’s Statement
The statement made by GG company, a taxi service provider, claiming that the criminal proceedings initiated against it are baseless and illegal, does not correspond to reality. This assertion has been issued by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Earlier today, GG declared that the criminal case opened against them is evidently unfounded and illegal, pointing out that the sole motive behind it is the active civic stance and public activities of the company's founder, Khachatur Grigoryan.
“First of all, criminal proceedings are not initiated against any individual, but rather in relation to a specific incident or fact. Secondly, the current criminal proceedings were initiated for tax evasion reasons back in May 2023, and the preliminary investigation has continued until now. Recently, searches were conducted as part of the standard investigative process,” the statement emphasized.
The Investigative Committee highlighted that attempting to connect the initiated criminal proceedings with the active civic stance and public activities of GG’s founder is an unsuccessful attempt to politicize a legal process that began over a year ago.
Lawyer Sergey Harutyunyan stated that this case is fabricated and illegal, arguing that the motivation stems from Khachatur Grigoryan’s posts and political views.
After the search of GG’s office, all computers were seized.
Grigoryan had expressed his support for the “Tavush for the Homeland” movement on his Facebook page on June 12, writing: “If you are Armenian and want my respect when greeting me, your place is on Baghramyan.” Following this post, pro-government users initiated a flash mob urging a boycott of the taxi service, while supporters of the protest movement launched another flash mob stating, “I only travel with GG.”
