Gerasim Vardanyan Arrested
Member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Gerasim Vardanyan, who voluntarily appeared before the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia amid the arrests of 11 individuals and searches of the party's offices, has been arrested. He is involved in one of the criminal proceedings and is accused of materially incentivizing participants of the "Tavush for the Homeland" movement.
He was taken to the Kanaker-Zeytun police department. Vardanyan's lawyer, Benik Galstyan, stated that they will go to the department to understand what the case is really about. "Everything is clear; we expect everything to proceed as we wish. This struggle will continue until the Armenian people achieve victory," Gerasim Vardanyan said before his arrest.
Deputy Gegham Manukyan also noted that, aside from the employees who approached, some masked individuals sitting in a police vehicle were waiting for him on the street. They quickly fled as soon as they noticed he was filming them. Their vehicles bore official police license plates.
Recall that the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia had reported that criminal proceedings have been initiated against two individuals for providing money to participants of the protest. The Committee only disclosed the initials of those individuals: G.V. and V.D. It is believed that G.V. refers to Gerasim Vardanyan.
