VIDEO. "Let him believe in God, I don't need to believe in him, damn it." Pashinyan on Bishop Bagrat
As I officially declare, I have never authorized anyone, nor have I mediated, nor have I raised such an issue. This was stated today, June 12, by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the National Assembly while addressing the request to comment on the claims of priest Zargaryan and then Bagrat Galstanyan, that the authorities sent a delegation to negotiate with Bishop Bagrat before starting the movement.
"If I had a desire to meet with the person you mentioned, this person has been following me around the streets for a month, saying, let’s meet, let’s meet, come, let’s meet! I would have met. Are you suggesting that it is difficult for the Prime Minister of Armenia to meet with anyone? Isn’t this a brutal authoritarian regime? The Prime Minister of the country wants to meet someone and cannot? If I wanted to meet, I would tell the brutal forces to throw the bag and bring him to me for a meeting. But of course, I am not like that, and as a humble follower of the Armenian Apostolic Church and a law-abiding citizen, I do not do such things.
They say that the authoritarian regime wants to meet and cannot? It was good that he memorized the anecdote about 'elusive Joe' and told it; that is about him," he said.
In response, an opposition MP from the floor stated that Bishop Bagrat trusts him a lot, to which Pashinyan replied, "Let him believe in God, I don't need to believe in him, damn it." Following these words, applause erupted.
