Agree that this is ridiculous: Hakob Arshakyan
The opposition claims that the extraordinary session of the National Assembly will take place on the 17th at 18:30 by legal force. It remains to be seen if the Civil Contract will have the will to attend that session. They do not say they will have the will and not attend the session; what will happen then?
This was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hakob Arshakyan, on his Facebook page, continuing: “Let’s put aside the fact that the opposition has not done anything new. They have just brought a statement in which they tried to summarize their messages expressed over the years through speeches, rallies, and protests. The only difference is that this message is now renamed and endorsed with Galstyan's name, and the adoption or non-adoption of such a statement has no legal consequences.
It is much more important that in order to secure the votes necessary for any statement to be adopted in the National Assembly, one must first ensure the quorum, which requires the presence of 54 deputies, while at the moment there are only 33 signatures under the presented statement... Not to mention the necessity of voting.
This is the same as if the opposition were to say that they express a lack of confidence in the government, and for that, the ruling political majority must join them and express a lack of confidence in the government it has formed itself. Agree that this is ridiculous.
In summary, I would like to inform Galstyan that the next parliamentary elections are scheduled for the summer of 2026, and before that, a political party must be registered or joined, a pre-election list must be compiled, a pre-election program must be written, and preparations for the electoral campaign must be made. By the way, something should probably be done with the Canadian passport, or perhaps check the dates and procedures for Canada's elections.
