Gor Abrahamyan: Information on Allegations of Torture in the Investigative Division
The information regarding allegations of torture released by the Investigative Division of the Shengavit Administrative District of the RA Investigative Committee does not correspond to reality, and the descriptions of the incident are completely fabricated. This was stated by Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the RA Investigative Committee, on his Facebook page.
“The publication of footage showing an individual being transported to an ambulance with an unfounded report of torture, without any presentation of evidence, cannot serve as an argument for claims of torture. A simple manipulation is taking place, which is presented as a defensive tactic. The entire point of this is to shape a biased public opinion about what occurred by distorting the reality upside-down, ahead of time. This is morally unacceptable,” he wrote.
The spokesperson added that the RA Investigative Committee would later provide a clarification presenting the actual circumstances of the incident.
Earlier, a lawyer had posted a video on his Facebook page, writing: “The consequences of the alleged torture incident at the Shengavit Investigative Division.”
