Significant interest has been generated by the main lot of the auction – a seascape of Constantinople by painter Ivan Aivazovsky titled 'Moonlit Night with Towers.' The canvas, painted in 1878, was sold for 92 million rubles, as reported by RIA Novosti.
After Auction Holding announced its intention to auction the 'Moonlit Night' canvas, former Ukrainian prosecutor Gunduz Mamedov speculated that the painting may have an illegal origin, which he expressed on social media. In response, the press service of Auction Holding clarified that the auction features a work of the same name but with a different subject matter, which is not related to the painting currently sought by Ukraine through international warrants.
