Investigative Committee Responds to Reports of Vahan Kerobyan's Interrogation
The Investigative Committee is not currently disclosing information regarding ongoing investigative actions and the identities of those involved. This was stated to Armenpress by the Committee's press secretary, Gor Abrahamyan, commenting on reports that former Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan was interrogated by the Investigative Committee.
“Data regarding ongoing investigative actions, the involvement of individuals, and their identities is not subject to disclosure at this time,” said Gor Abrahamyan.
Media reports have circulated that Vahan Kerobyan, who was dismissed from his position on February 14, was questioned by the Investigative Committee. Kerobyan personally announced his resignation from the Minister of Economy position through a post on his Facebook page.
Two weeks ago, the Investigative Committee announced apparent corruption revelations involving various officials from the Ministry of Economy, including Deputy Minister Ani Ispiryanz, who was dismissed on the day of the Committee's announcement. Ani Ispiryanz is currently under house arrest as part of two cases initiated by the Investigative Committee, while a number of other ministry officials have been detained.
Vahan Kerobyan has publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the investigative actions, noting that the work of the ministry has been paralyzed due to the arrests and detentions.
