Navalny Sent to Punishment Cell After Leaving Quarantine
Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny has been sent to a punishment cell at the Yamalo-Nenets penal colony immediately after leaving mandatory quarantine. This was reported on his social media accounts.
The reason for this latest punishment is Navalny's refusal to comply with prison regulations by presenting himself to a prison staff member, according to the politician's statement.
It has been reported that Navalny will spend seven days in the punishment cell. This marks the 24th time he has been sent to an isolation unit. After his release, he will have spent a total of 273 days in this confinement over the course of two years.
Conditions in the punishment cell are particularly harsh. Inmates are not allowed to receive packages from outside, take walks, or receive bedding items.
