Some Roads Have Black Ice in Places
The Rescue Service reports that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of Armenia. Due to road repair works until February 15, the section of the M-6 highway near km 38-40 from Vanadzor to Alaverdi will be closed for buses and cargo trucks with trailers or semi-trailers. An alternate road will operate through the town of Noyemberyan.
The roads from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and Lake Kʼari in the Aragatsotn province are closed. The Tigranashen twists (black ice) and the Vardenyats pass are difficult to navigate for trucks with trailers (use of chains is recommended).
In the Gegharkunik province, there is black ice in places on the Ashotsk and Sisian-Zanger roads. According to reports from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations for North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to use winter tires exclusively.
The Road Department informs that as of January 7 at 10:05, all inter-state and republican significance roads are open.
