Ukraine Excluded from 2023's Most Popular News Search Queries
Ukraine has not been included in the list of the most popular news search queries for 2023. According to data from Google Trends, which tracks the fastest-growing inquiries on Google, the top spot in news rankings is occupied by the conflict in Gaza.
In addition to the topic of the Palestine-Israel conflict, the year's most sought-after news stories include the explosion of a bathroom near the Titanic wreck site, an earthquake in Turkey, news related to three storms in the USA and Canada, shootings in Maine and Tennessee, and the Indian 'Chandrayaan-3' mission that successfully landed on the moon, as well as the war in Sudan.
Last year, the conflict in Ukraine was the leading topic in searches. Recently, Western media have been increasingly reporting that Ukraine has been sidelined against the backdrop of the Palestine-Israel conflict, with Kyiv losing the attention of journalists and support from its allies.
