Brazil's President Rejects Zelensky's Invitation
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, extended an invitation to the President of Brazil to meet, but his request was declined. This information was reported by O Globo, citing sources from Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Itamaraty sources, the request was made very quickly on Thursday, while Brazilian diplomats and President Lula himself were occupied with the Rio summit. Additionally, the timing and circumstances of the proposed meeting were considered unusual.
Zelensky had stopped at an airbase to refuel his plane on Saturday evening. He arrived in Brazil at 8:15 PM and took off two hours later.
