Beer Bottles Broken on Asphalt and Urinating in Open Areas: Details on the Detention of Welsh Fans

On November 17, officers from the Central Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia and patrol officers from the second company of the Yerevan city division did not randomly transport fans of the Welsh football club to the Central Police Station. This was reported by Shamshyan.com, citing its sources.

It is noted that during their service, the patrol officers and police noticed a group of individuals showing disrespectful behavior towards the community, shouting loudly. Initially, the officers refrained from taking action as it is common worldwide for fans to support their teams in such ways. However, they later observed these individuals breaking beer bottles on the asphalt and some urinating in open areas, after which the officers were compelled to take them to the Central Police Station to maintain public order.

To verify this information, Auroranews contacted the head of the Media Relations, Information and Analysis Department of the Police, Zarzand Gabrielian, who stated that the police have already issued a statement regarding this matter. Earlier, we reported that 16 foreign individuals were arrested on charges of hooliganism and presented with the appropriate documents to the investigative committee. This was announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

According to the police, another 16 individuals were also arrested but were later released. As we previously reported, 32 Welsh football fans from the British national football team were arrested ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifying match held in Yerevan.
